Just getting into the slow trolling ( spider rigging ) way to fish. Question is would Butla or Sardis ( Lower Lake) be better for someone just learning to troll as far as cover , dropoffs and creek / river channels. Remember I'm a rookie at this spider rigging thing. First trip I made to Butla the other day and caught 1 short fish but hung up alot on trot lines and brush. Any advice from the guys on here that fish this way regulary would be greatly appreciated.

Sardis upper lake will be your best bet...just starting out, like you said, you can catch fish there virtually anywher....may not be many keepers though, lol. You will get the feel for trolling, even though you catch a lot of short fish. be very careful of the wind, sardis can be brutal on windy days....downright dangerous. 20_30 mph wind tommorrow....will not be good. Oh and stay far away from jugs, nets and trot lines are rough on spider rigging

Chris, you have to use more than one pole to really be spider rigin. Pffffftttttt!
WB uses more than one pole, I've seent him do it. His problem is getting more than one fish to bite them.
I figured he only spider rigged with one pole since he always catches only one fish......pfffttttt
