Fishing License ?
My wife would like to "boat ride" with me while I am fishing this weekend. She will have no pole in hand and will not be fishing, just tagging along in the back of the boat. I fish with multiple rods however and some are stored in the back of the boat when not in use. Does she need a license? I have read all the fishing regs and license fees and info on the state's site but cannot find the answer to this.
It may seem like a dumb question but my dad almost got a ticket for sitting in the woods with me while deer hunting one day. He had no weapon and was clearly just there with me, but the game warden said in VA that is defined as hunting because he could assist me in harvest or removal of the animal. I assume it could be the same for fishing?
Thanks.

take her fishing. my wife goes with me in the summer and she does not fish and have been stopped many times and they do not even ask because she lays out to get a sun tan.

Its really going to depend on the warden and if he wants to be a butt or not... I would play it safe and get her a license but thats just me...
