I am new to this site. Been fishing Nimrod for past few days. Was catching crappie in Carter Cove but water is going down and fishing has slowed. Should the fish now be back in the river? If so would they be back up against the banks. We tore them up back about a month agoe before all the rain came while fishing the banks of the river. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks

Welcome. I can't answer your question this morning, but I am headed to Nimrod later today and will camp through Sunday. I'll give you a report next week if I do any good. Does anyone know where you can leave a camper for a few days in Plainview, not hooked up to anything? I will be headed back the next weekend and hate to pull it home.

Hey Goblerblaster, Jerry at Andrew's Bait and More Bait shop at Carter Cove will keep your camper parked as long as you need. Call him and tell him David (slabbandit) told you to call. Only about a half mile pull to Carter Cove Park. Bait shop # is (479) 272-4025 and they are open from 5AM to7PM.
I've heard that they are catching lots of crappie right below the dam at Nimrod. Most people fish down off the lower parking lot on the rocks or they walk across the dam and fish the south side for a little less pressure.
Well, went fishing this morning in Nimrod. Fish started out slow. We started up the mouth of river about 3/4 mile up and drifted back down stream. We caught around 5 or 6 nice fish around 9' deep right on tree lines. Took probably 2 hours to get them. Finally got into some fish and limited out in a tree top about 300 yards up the mouth of river. Best suggestion I can make is ( if you know the river then you will know exactly where I am talking about) find a freshly fallen tree with the top in the water and fish the upstream side of the top about 8' to 9' deep. Caught 30 plus fish within hour. Variable sizes some nice some small. Fish were not in carter cove.Quote:

Thanks for the camper info, I buy minnows there, We got the crappie in about 9 feet of water off little branch channels the last 3 days, Got about 70 with 3 guys fishin, but most were keepers. and we were turkey hunting in the mornings, Was not disappointed and will be back next Thursday thru Sunday. Most still had not spawned out. They sure did fry up nice. Wind was rough on fishin and turkey hunting.
