798 SI help please
Attachment 87994Attachment 87995on right side of SI when you get over 12 feet deep it is very distorted, left side is clear. If I turn around it is still distorted on the right screen.. It gets so bad on right side as I go deeper at times I cannot see where water column stops but left side is still fairly clear. The transducer is clear with nothing blocking view on either side. I have tried to adjust it up and down with the sentivity yet it still will not clear up.. Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I don't know much about these, but that almost looks like RF interference. I wouldn't think RF noise would show on just one side tho. You might be able to test if you turn off whichever motor you are using momentarily, then back on. If you see a clear spot with the motor off, it may be noise.

I can cut motor off and all other DF and it still do it

Rickie, will post it Sat,will not be able until then, but it is mounted under the step down near drainage. It is a bass tracker,it has a clear path over 180%

Is the TD mounted on the port side of center?

Gene,
If there is no obstruction than the problem could be in the unit or transducer. See if you can find someone to let you test your unit on their boat. It does not have to be 798 unit but it does have to be another Humminbird Side Imaging unit. Just plug in the power cable and transducer to test it.

thanks greg, I have a friend coming to visit and he has a 798 . we are going to put his unit on my transducer and my unit on his transducer ,then we will know weather unit or transducer is problem. It has got so bad can hardly see on right side while left side is fine. It makes DI where it is hard also. Will let you guys know next week,am camping and on week end I come home and have internet. I thank you guys

The pictures sure look like a good setup...
Hopefully your upcoming test with your friend's unit will help you find the problem...
