During hot weather here in Missouri I don't like to keep them on ice for more than 4 or 5 hours. I usually fill my livewell up with ice before I launch the boat and just put fill the livewell up with water once in the water. If I can't get ice before I launch the boat I leave water in the livewell and find the closest place I can for ice the fill up the livewell. I try to get home and clean the fish within the next 3 to 4 hours.
I've kept fish 3 days on ice without any problems. Key word ON ICE!!
I'll keep em a couple days. Just keep the water drained out of it. I'll put em in, fill it up with ice and pull the drain plug so it won;t fill with water.
True what Gator said. As long as its ice and not ice water they do fine. The I've water seems to make them soft
You know, kinda like ice water does us with the shrinkage factor
Yes, ice not ice water
Thanks guys :)
What's this shrinkage factor you speak of? I don;t ever have that problem. Guess it's to small to shrink LMBO
