Mini's on Clear Lake
Fished Clear Lake in England yesterday evening. Caught about twenty mini crappie. Everyone else at the lake said the same thing, nothing but small ones. I fished different depths and colors with no change. Just small ones. I am not sure that Clear Lake is the place to catch 'em. I wont be back there for crappie this year there.

Hay their I fished that lake last spring with a couple of my friends with us coving the lake in 3 boats and we had the same results catching the small crappies. Now a buddy of mine has caught some really nice bass out of it. With our results and now yours I want be back crappie fishing their either.

Thankf for the report. I've been thinking about trying Clear, but i've heard enough. Maybe next year

What makes them small? overpopulation, not enough older fish, do folks need to keep all the small ones? will it ever rebound? how long til it rebounds. what would make it rebound?

I believe it is over population, just my opinion. I tried many techniques and baits and colors and so on and had the same result. Very small crappie. I have visited with others who have fished it this year and said exactly the same. The last day I was there, between three boat, there were probably 100 crappie caught. 5 keepers. So I think it is over populated which has led to a lack of older fish, but also the lake has an abundance of predator fish in it as well. Can't answer the rest of the questions because I am not a biologist. But I was already thinking that some of the small ones should be taken out. Maybe somebody that had a pond would like them. Maybe I should keep my limit of 30 everytime I fish there and cut 'em whole like the old days before we filleted fish... All just my opinion
