Ok, I know people have wanted this info I am going to post the most important "tips" I have on this 4 page list and if anyone wants the nuts and bolts settings pm me and I will give you the detailed. Dennis said this guide was built for police and fire departments for evidence and body recovery but he tweaked it for fishing settings. Here goes
Turn the unit on in normal mode push menu twice and scroll down to user mode and put it in advanced mode.
scroll through menus and turn off arrival alarm and turn off, off course alarm.
go into the sonar tab in the menu and highlight 83/200 for the sonar beam
select 455 for the side imaging beam he said the 800 setting is for evidence recovery in deep water.
Set the surface clutter so a 1/8 to 1/16th color bar scrolls across the top of sonar. NOTE I had to play with this a bit to tweak it it may take a minute or two.
set the switch fire mode to clear
Turn the setting for fish ID on and set sensitivity to 7
Make sure in gps your map datum is on wgs 84
waypoint decluttering turned on.
si navigation on
continuous navigation on
course projection visible
On side imaging dennis states the best color is brown this gives you the most detail looking for brush and trees.
for mucky lakes use use amber 1 and/or 2
In the SI enhance mode set the sensitivity so that known hard surfaces have a light frosting on them
contrast should be at 13
sharpness should be off
contour mode off
You must image a minimum of twice the depth of the water you are in if you are in 10 ft depth SI should be set at a minimum of 20 ft.
Optimum speed is 1.2 to 3.5
Dennis told me they have advanced the technology so you can use the side imaging to its full potential (put it to 150 on each side)
unless you have one of the first units ever made then it may not do as well due to hardware and software limitations
