Hi,
This is my first post. Signed up last fall. Glad I found this site. I mainly fish the lakes around the KC Metro area (Jacomo, Blue Springs, Raintree, James A. Reed, and Hillsdale).
Went to Truman a few times last year. Talk about an awesome crappie fishery.
On Wednesday, took a vacation day and took my dad, niece, and nephew to Hillsdale. Picked up the Hillsdale lake map a week earlier. It was a very very windy day. Waves on the main lake was scary.
Launched at Maryville around 8:00am, took shelter in the east cove north by the bridge on the Little Bull arm. No fish.
Went to the Big Bull arm and fished about 1/2 mile west of Hillsdale Point launch. Got battered by the wind. No fish.
Left the Big Bull arm and headed to the Jayhawk marina area where we settled for an hour. Dad caught a dink there.
Left the Jayhawk area and proceeded way up the Little Bull to the last cove on the east side where the channel runs. No fish, but found fish stacking in the mouth of the cove in 8ft of water suspending 4-5ft, but waves were too rough. Tried to position boat but the Minn Kota Power Drive is kinda slow in turning, unlike other cable models. Tried to get in futher just to drive my trolling motor into the mud. Then headed back home.
I took some temps and Jayhawk area was 45-47degrees. The cove up the Little Bull was 57.4 degrees. 10 degree difference.
Sorry guys, the only report that I have worthy are the temp readings.
Touny
