Mounting of on board charger

After looking at other threads and getting tired of charging different batteries individually, I am thinking very hard on purchasing an on board charger. But my mounting space is limited. I have a area in back of boat that has a hatch lid and I can mount in there but worried about heat as i keep my gas tank there as well.
here are some pics. please let me know your opinions and thoughts.
When looking at these pics, I was looking at mounting on transom opposite side of gas tank(same side as battery).The last pic is when hatch is closed

You can mount it there....Use a piece of plywood or starboard to mount it to.....do not mount it diectly to the metal boat as electrolisis will occur and you will ruin your boat over time.

Tommy, On my 1654 Grizzly, I moved the two trolling batteries up front in storage space. It cut half of storage out, but put enough weight up there to make boat ride and handle better.Left my trolling batt. wire just like it was and bought about 6 ft of wire to go totrolling motor. Might be something to look at.

yeah, I have 2 batteries up front, 1 for trolling motor, 1 for 998 and 777C2 to prevent interference, and then the cranking battery you see in back

Make darn sure you plug in with the hatch open and let it air out any trapped gas fumes before you do it.

I got mine mounted on the underside of the hatch lid. If you got clearance that would be a good spot. Jusr prop the door up when charging.

Some of the chargers really generate some heat, so I stacked 5 or 6 washers underneath, between the bulkhead and the charger, to allow a little better airflow. It night not be needed, I just didn't want that much heat on a wood and glass bulkhead. I wonder if keeping it cooler when working that it might last a bit longer? Who knows, time will tell.
