Downloading waypoints
I'm trying to figure out how to enter waypoints onto an SD card and download them into my HDS-7. Short of manually entering each one, I have no clue how this is done. I tried using the GDM6 program, downladed directly from the Lowrance website, but expierienced and error message when trying to export the files to the SD card. I finally managed to save them to the card, but they were in a "TXT" format and I understand they have to be in a "USR" format. I finally gave up on it and attempted another program. I downloaded EasyGPS and thought with this title, it's the one for me. Wrong again, I couldn't figure out how to change the format of the Lat/Long to degrees/minutes. Sixfin showed me how he used the ozi-explorer program to create a waypoint, store it on a card and then export to the unit. I tried the same procedure with my ozi-program but can only create a waypoint on the maps downloaded from the hydrographix program, which isn't where my waypoints are located. I'm really aggravated at myself that I can't figure this out on my own. I know I'm technologically challanged but am hoping there is an easier way to do this. If not, guess I'll spend some quailty time in the driveway in the new boat downloading the waypoints one by one. Sure hope someone is willing to guide me in the right direction.

I have been trying to do the same on a elite 5 DSI for a friend. We put in 15 waypoints yesterday in the driveway. There has to be a better way. I really want to get the HDS 7 Gen 2, so I will be watching this post carefully. Good luck!!!!

I don't know if this will help you but check my post #178 in this thread. http://www.crappie.com/crappie/fishi...plotter-6.html

What is the original format of the waypoints? You can use GPS babel on line to convert most any file to any format.
GPS Visualizer: Web interface to GPSBabel
You will need to save the waypoints (usr) to the SD card.
Verify you have .usr saved on sd and place in HDS.
Go to waypoint, trails, etc page. Highlite on files and open it. Next highlite Memory 1 (2) and open it. You should see the .usr file you saved. Highlite the file then import that file. That should do it.

I will check it out again. I read that yesterday and it went over my head. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the info cane pole. I will give it a try. The waypoints I have are on a Garmin E tec Hand held. I don't think they are in USR so I will need to convert them.

Thanks Tom, should've just asked you directly. I'll give it a try.

Got them converted, now I have to get a micro card and give it a go. May be a day or two. Thanks again for all your help.
