Past times there
Hey There,
I used to be stationed at Othello AFS until we shut it down in '74. I used to fish in Goose (?) and Soap lakes quite alot. In soap we used to catch trout and yellow perch mostly. I don't recall catching many crappie while out that way. A great bait in soap was a strip of pork rind, white approx 1" x 1/4" and a RED salmon egg. If left under a bobber perch nailed it or reeled back you got a trout. Have no idea what they thought it was but you could fish all day with 2 jars for bait. Another trout bait was small marshmallows. I also recall only using 1 rod, is that the rule? Does anyone know if they finally removed the base towers. It was located 8 miles out of Othello heading towards the Tri-cities. I remember there is a name to that range of hills but I can't remember it. I have great memories of my time in Wa. and wish you all GOOD FISHING.

I always been told there are no fish in Soap Lake
Maybe you meant Soda Lake south of Potholes Res.

Soda has a lot of perch and trout in it too.

soda has a great population of smallmouth and walleye in it too. now that i got some crappie out of it this year i plan on hitting it more and maybe getting some big ones. one guy at the boat launch last time i went said he had caught some big slabs out of there when he was walleye fishing....
