The last 2 days have been spent in preparation for the ACT aka known as the Arkansas Crappie Trek. At the end of March my wife and I will start on Beaver in NW Arkansas and fish our way South East across Arkansas and arrive at Lake Chicot in time for spring camp. My goal is to catch at least 1 fish on each lake we fish. Yesterday, new shoes were put on the boat trailer, and the bearings checked. Today, a hitch was installed on the newer vehicle and lights were wired as well as regular maintenace on the truck. Just as I was finishing, the wife said that the fish may bite today so we loaded up and got on the water at 4pm and fished till 6:30. We spent the first hour hunting and the last 1.5 hours catching. We had one 12'bnm take a swim, but when you're hot you're hot. I took the dipnet and captured it on the first dip. A fine mess of minners were caught and will become table fare for the poor and hungry. It was the wifes first time out this year and she was a little rusty, in my opinion, but after explaining it twice (blacked both eyes) she did better at yanking crappie lips without letting so many get loose. She did so good, I may let her go back from time to time. Hope everyone had as as much fun as us today.
