Been meaning to try that to. I was gonna do crappie/shrimp chowdwr. Maybe use shrimp stock instead of chicken stock. Add some red pepper flakes n a few hots of sarachi sauce.
that sounds good, i've got some shrimp in the freezer. I did a little research on the recipe forum, found some basic chowder recipes that all seem pretty good, believe it will be hard to screw up. I'm thinking it's best to cube the fish before cooking that way they will not flake to badly.
You right. Dont throw it in the chowder til late in the cooking n itll stay in bigger pieces. Put a couple bay leaves in there too as youll cooking the onions. Even abit oc celery is good to. Btw they sell shrimp stock in the boxes now.
Don't over cook the fish. Probably just bring it to a boil at the end, drop the cubed fish in, put the lid on, turn off the heat and let it set for 15 minutes. Let us know how it turns out.
I have done it before, worked out pretty good. White wine, heavy cream, shrimp broth or clam juice, lots of taters. big chunks of fish just a couple minutes before serving.
