Well, with the snow falling pretty hard as I launched the boat around 7am, thoughts were going through my head as to whether this was a sane decision to be out on the water today...but what else was i to do besides sit out on the couch. The wind was pretty stiff out of the SW, so i made the run to the south end of the lake to seek some shelter from the wind and search for better water clarity than what I had found around Gun Creek. The water temp was hovvering around 40-42 degrees. I ended up doin some slow cruisin in search of shad balls on the down imaging... needless to say i found them in a cove and the crappie were mixed in around them. I fished off of a rip rap bank in 10-14 fow. The action was hot and we steadily caught crappie for four hours straight. We caught many 9-1/2 to 10-1/2 inchers, the biggest going right at 12 inches. We got the best on mo glo electric chicken and all chartuese colors, they outperformed standard tubes 3 or 4 fish to 1.
