I believe that I'd want to mount a 2.5 lb crappie. I wanted to hear what everyone else thinks too. What is the weight on a crappie that would make you want to put her on the wall?
Just in case I get lucky. :biggrin

My dad had mine mounted when I was a kid, it was 2.5 too.
I first mounted one over 2, then last year I was lucky enough to get one over 3. I released her and had a replica made. It turned out nice.
You cant mount a 2.5 lb crappie crappielover, you would mess up the breeding stock, lol. Im getting one mounted that was a little over 2.5 that i caught at Crescent.
I hear ya SYG, and I'm cognizant of that too. However, as Roy stated, you can take a picture and measure them to get a good replica.
yeah a replica is the way to go for sure, expensive but will last forever.. I got my cousin doing mine and its kinda like a let him do it as practice and its free to me kinda thing.
Nice idea...and ya got me there too, I must admit I got a chuckle out of your previous comment.
Interesting CG. I guess that I failed the test cuz I caught a 2lb 5 oz crappie at Crescent and didn't put her on the wall. Kind of hard to do it when X-Racer comes in with PigZilla!
Without a doubt get a replica mount done. I had 2 bass 12lbs and 10.5 done that were real mounts and after approx 8 years they needed re painting and fins had broken. They went away during a divorce and have no idea where they are now, probably a landfill in Daytona.
