Conway Catfish
Anyone fish Conway for cats? There is an article in the May edition on Arkansas Sportsman about it. Says it is one of the best. I think summer cats will be real hot there once they lower the lake later this summer. I am not real big on eating cats, especially since eating crappie and bream, but I love to catch fish!!! I can always find someone to give them to.

Hey Conway has some trophy Flatheads in it. About November 1998 , I believe they drew it down. We tore up the cats on bass rods and minnows. One trip three of us brought in a limit one morning. We had over 200 lbs of flatheads and limit was 5 each while it was drawn down ! My son was 8 years old and had to have help landing a 33 lber! I hung one that pulled the boat with the ancor out. This was over by Greens Lake. I have heard of some real big ones there.
That was some trip as we threw back anything under 10 lbs. We looked for scales and could not find any large enough. Finally stopped at the chip mill and asked to weigh our fish. They said the scales only weighed in 20 lb increaments. Laughed when we asked to weigh our fish. That was till they saw them. We were told that they were over 200 lbs.:D

That is awesome, I am going to hit it good when they drop it. Might bait up a couple of holes too.

Sounds like a really fun time NIMROD....keep us posted on how you do dmbutler. If it gets good I might try to slip over with my grandson and see if I can get him hooked up to one...

How exactly are you baiting a hole? I'd be interested in trying it myself.

I will probably anchor a couple 5 gallon buckes drilled with holes and filled with dog food. I will ask around on a catfish website for ideas too. the bucket is the best one that i know about.
There is a good catfish forum, it is set up much like this one, even has an arkansas page. www.catfish1.com check it out if you like cats.
