I have a 2 man boat that is coming apart at the seam seperating the top half from the bottom half.
Any suggestions on repair would be appreciated.
As a side note, this happened before a few years ago and I used "gorilla" glue to reseal. It lasted, but not the permanant fix I was looking for.
This boat is a "water Scamp" and is made of some kind of plastic. Not sure what glue would be best, if any.
JB Weld? Or do you need an adhesive to bond the two pieces back together....something like F12?

I have a Pelican. It is held together with rivets. I removed some of the rivets on the ends and replaced them with stainless steel eye bolts. Handy places to tie stuff. If you want to seal it permanently, go to WalMart and get you some Marine sealer/adhesive. I think the number is 7200. Not sure. It will say on the package if it is removable or permanent. You'll have to figure some way of clamping the halves together while the RTV sets.
Flanger is thinking of 3M 5200 which is said to be permanent, but can be mechanically removed. It's stout, but doubt it would hold the two pieces together without some sort of mechanical fastener as well.
I'm tired of jacking with this thread. Post pics er else.

There is an ad on TV where they saw a kayak in half, glue it with their product, throw it off a bridge onto rocks and then get in it an paddle off. Now if I could only remember the name of the product! It is on every day so if no one else jump in here with the name I will update when I see the ad again.

Chilly go by a body shop and ask them what they use. I know where I used to work we had a big truck body shop. They use a couple of different products for repairs those kinds of plastics most are a 2 part epoxy that use a special tool to mix the 2 as you apply. Or check with an automotive paint supply store, maybe Napa also.

Jigflinger-- like the rivet idea. Hate the idea of drilling the pilot holes. SS eye hooks or small bolts would probably be ideal. Gonna use some wood working c clamps to hold together.
I will get up with a body shop tomorrow.

Yeah, it's 3M. Either 5200 or 7200. One of them is supposed to be permanent. But like WB said you will still need some other means of holding them together, just in case. After the 3M stuff sets up you can easily drill for the pop rivets. Get the ones with the big heads and the backing washers.
you could always do what DD would do...duct tape it!
