Is the 08 Navionics Premium chip compatable with the HDS units or do I need to get a newer card for it? I found an 08 for sale but want to make sure it will work in my unit before buying it.

The 08 will work in your unit. Usually you'll be okay with an older card in a newer unit, but an older unit with a newer card is sometimes a problem.
My experience with HDS: zoom restricted to 50 feet, some locations, 100 feet with Navionics. Ask billbob or others with this map and HDS if zoom is important to you.
