Electric Fillet Knives
Opinions & remarks requested. Years ago I had an electric fillet knife that actually worked cleaning fish. I recently bought a 'new' Rapala that doesn't slice, the motor runs so slow it is closer to 'grinding' the fillets off the bone. It makes for a messy job, so much so I don't use it. What brand/model of electric fillet knife works for you?

I've got a Mr. Twister Saltwater and am not very pleased with it. It's motor runs slow also.

The best i have found is the original mister twister. The motor runs fast and great. You can pick tbem up at academy for around $30

I use the black and decker from walmart. they work fine and cost 10 dollars. If for some reason you dont like it or the motor doesnt run right or the blades get bent, I take them back to walmart for exchange with no ? asked. If it makes it past 2 years I will throw it away and get a new one. The one I have now is 3 years old.

I use an original mr twister, or if I have electricity, I use a bread knife. It works better than ANY 12v fillet knife that I have found.

I have owned Mister Twister, Rapala, and American Angler. The Rapala was no good. The Mister Twister works well as long as you are not cleaning very many "thick meated" fish. I use it when I have a good number day but not the biggest size day. If I have several thicker fish, I will use the American Angler. It does the best for me on the thicker fish but does not feel as good in my hand as the Mister Twister.

Throw them electric contraptions away and learn to use a real fillet knife.:biggrin

American angler with shark blades. They offer one with metal gears that's a little more expensive but should last a lifetime.

Been using the same B&D for 5 years now. The older one. New ones don't last. BillyE, don't throw them suckers away. Throw them at me. I rebuild them.
