I saw an ad that said the new power drive had the terovia deploy and stow system. This is what a lot of people had complained about with the power drive, it was hard to deploy and stow. Has anyone seen this and is the terovia really easier than the power drive? Thanks Bo
I got a PD V2 and it goes in and out slick as snot.

If the terrova was easier then nobody would be complaining. My 70 PD works slick as a button.

This helps . I can save around $400 with the PD I pilot over the terova.
You get what you pay for. Terrova is a tougher motor and will last a long time. Tomorrow will be my Terrova's 157th fishing trip with 0 trips to the repair shop. I fish TMO lakes almost all the time, so my motor runs long hard days. At a cost of $1,260, that brings my per-trip cost down to just over $8.00. Factor in the cost and down time for an occasional trip to your nearest repair shop & Terrova might be your cheapest deal after all.Quote:

Terrova has a heavy duty design that stands up to a lot of punishment without damage to the seals that keep water out. The mount and shaft are also tough. Once I ran mine aground at full speed (bringing the boat to an abrupt stop.) There was no damage of any kind. Yes, that was careless on my part, but that's one of the few drawbacks of the Autopilot feature. You can put the motor on a course heading and let it run itself while you do other things. (The motor is not smart enough to know there's a shallow flat on the course, however.)
Before the Terrova, I had a PD. Bolts holding the lower unit case together loosened & water got in. The motor was old, so I didn't want to sink money into it. Instead, I found another used PD and swapped the shaft & lower units. Soon, this one sounded like a bucket of bolts. That's when I decided to buy the Terrova. I estimate it's delivered more than 1,500 hours of trouble free service.
Boa, I don't know how much tougher a Terrova is than a PDV2, I have a PDV2 that has many, many trouble free hours on it and I'm sure it has many more left in it. The motor diameter on the 70PD is 3 5/8" while the Terrova 80 motor diameter is 4". The skeg on the Terrova is designed more to the rear allowing more room to mount transducers, 'bout the only differences I know of.Quote:
