Question

I received my collarless jig mold today, and started pouring some 80th and 64th ounce. After I poured about a dozen of each I stopped and noticed that the lead wasn't adhering to some of the hooks (the hooks would spin inside the lead). Am I doing something wrong? Or is this common?

Couple of possibilities with that. When you remove the jigs from the mold are you grabbing them by the hook or the pour spout????

With collarless jigs this can happen by removing by the hook. The other is you need to let them cool a little longer, their's not a lot of lead on that weight.

The ones that are loose can be fixed if you powder paint, once it's cured it usually takes care of it. Let me know how it works out.

I remove them buy tapping the top part where you fill the cavity. Then I notice it when I go to remove the excess lead. I may be doing that part incorrectly and need to get the correct tool to cut the lead off. But I know what you mean when you say there isn't much lead, don't know if I would want to do 100th's.:)

I snip my heads instead of twisting off. That solved my problem of loose heads. As stated a good powder coat will fix it right up.

Will these gate cutters be ok, or should I get some thing else? Gate Cutters

Got it. Poured 85 tonight and only 4 were bad.
