111 views and no replies? Guess the wind has kept them off the lake or they are biting pretty good. I haven't been because of this thing called work, but I sure have been fishing in my mind. There have been good reports of good size and good numbers of fish all up and down the lake, but mostly from Hwy 280 all the way down to the dam. The channel zig zags across the lake and the fish are relating to it or the edges. If the weather is good, just look for the boats. It will give you an idea of where to start. There is also a tournament coming up on the 14th at Blackshear so I doubt you will see too much being reported. I hope this work thing doesn't keep me from fishing at least one day this weekend. Good luck if you get a chance to go.
I talked to a friend this afternoon that braved the cold weather this morning and he did excellent. Said he had his limit by 9am and most of them were hogs that had big sacks of eggs. He said they were in 27ft water suspended around 17ft. He was pushing minnows. Yep tyhe crappie are doing great. I have lived here all my life and I can tell ya that it was the best Dember I have ever witnessed on catching crappie. I would venture to say that Friday looks to be a great day to go after them. I am taking my dad fishing Friday if it warms up a bit in the afternoon.
I hope to give a decent report from Blackshear tonight...The wind this afternoon will dictate where we will be trolling at...Hope to be there between 1;30-2:00 :highfive
My partner and I never fish Blackshear, but he wants to go there. We will be coming south on 75 so where is the best place to put in and give me some directions? Thanks.
Get off on the Vienna exit, not sure of the exit number. Turn right off the exit. Go straight through Vienna. Courthouse will be on your left, go across railroad tracks just past courthouse and turn left at the Napa Auto Parts store. Stay straight on that road through a couple of 4 way stops until it dead ends into Highway 280. Turn right onto 280 and the state park will be a couple of miles down there on the left. You can't miss it. There is several stores across the road from the park entrance. I need payment with GPS points when you get back!
Easiest is to get off 75 on Exit 101 (I think) which is Hwy 280. Turn right and go West all the way through Cordele approx 10 miles. The State Park entrance will be on your left past the golf course. On your right is two gas stations. Just past the second station (Striplings) is Leroy's Bait & Tackle. He has live bait and some info on whats happening now. From there you can go into the State Park to either boat ramp. One on your right just over the bridge and another further into the park after you pass the large open field. Park passes are $5 daily. Another good ramp is to continue past the park and gas stations on Hwy 280 across the bridge and then immediately on the left is Radz BBQ. Either way you will be in the middle of the lake and can run North or South to fish. Good luck. Post a report if you get to go.
TNT....good luck to you too!
Edit: Chappy's way is the way I go. It is shorter, just more turns. I also go down Hwy 41 from Perry to avoid the construction on 75 below Hendersonville.
I always get off at exit 101 (coming from the south) go west on 280 ten miles veterans state park is on left just like shinerunner said. I diddo what shinerunner said
PS Thanks all for the info. looking forward to TNT's report from today
I can tell ya'll now that the slabs are on fire here at Lake Blackshear. Had a friend call me today and said their heaviest 7 would weigh close to 14lbs! Not gonna say where because of big tourney next Saturday. Now I can be persuaded for a few bucks LOL. All jokes aside, the crappie are on fire now. I plan on taking my dad fishing tomorrow.
See you'all on the lake blackshear tomorrow........I know where there is a "honey Hole"
