Stupid question here...What is the two shinny threads that are running out the tailend of some of the jigs I see? they really look awesome.
I'm gonna order some tying stuff tonight, and would like to get some of that stuff. I guess yall can tell I don't know much about tying at all, but have tied afew ''gorilla jigs''..[big, strong, and ugly]

Crystal flash , flashabou , tinsel .
What I know it as is Flashabou. I would imagine that there are other products also.

There are numerace numbers of kinda of flash and even more colors.

A pckg will last a long time if you really just use that one color. Two or more colors can't hurt. But im minimal w/ it three or less strands. Just believe in your base colors first.
I don't buy much but believe in flash.

Just depends on who you want to admire your jigs, really.
Most flash will last longer than the jig if one is fishing brush anyway. Have had some customers which I ask about the flash and how long it last and how much it helps. Here are a few of the answers I got back. First if they don't lose the jigs I tie they will last for a lot of fish, personally probably for me just over 100 before I lose it to the wood monster if I am lucky. Have been told when the flash completely wears off the bit drops by something like 30%, but it will last for something like 75 to 85 fish so I am happy with that. Most I have had guys tell me that some had jigs last for over 300 fish on one single jig. I know of at least one member on C.C that has said that.
Some aware by the flash and want all their jig to have it while others don't care. I use jigs both ways and many of them don't have any flash, but I have started using more flash on mine the last couple years.

Crystal flash is what I use a lot of, and tinsel and angel hair(tiny tinsel) is what I use next. Tinsel and angel hair aren't near as durable but flow better, or have more flex. Angel hair and maribou is an awesome combo. I tied a jig with about 10 to 15 pieces of crystal, figuring if one was good, a bunch would be better. Didn't work at all for me, never caught a fish on it. Glad I didn't tie 30 of em.lol You can also tie it in first, last, or anywhere in between. Once you start fooling with it you'll get all kind of ideas. Welcome to the addiction, it just gets worse from here.
