Normandy (Help)
I've read you Normandy veterans threads often. Its time I get some help from you guys. I just trimmed the boat out for Spider Rigging and could use your help on where and how to position my boat. One of my problems is I have some cheap electronics and hope to be upgrading to some Side Scanning when I get the money. In the mean time, I just can't seen to get on top of, find and catch the dang things. If any of you fellas see this "Monark" boat with a fat guy in it, stop me and point me in the right direction. I see TennesseeTodd will be a land lover for a while. Give me a call, I have a second seat you can use. In yesterdays post, as I said I found a large school near the bridge but couldn't get a bite. Trolled up Carrol Creek and never saw any fish on my electronics. By the way, I am currently fitted with (2) Humminbird Pirana's. They have never worked well as far as I am concerned. I consider them cheap entry level finders. Cell 615-337-4277

Hey crappie fever why don't you come and check out our middle tennesse crappie club. Our club has been going now for two
years and I've learned a lot in that time. Check use out at middletennesseecrappieclub.com. We fish once a month with our
lakes being Normandy, Tims and Woods. Meeting at Skips grill in Winchester on the Thursday before the tourneys. We are
about to make out our new schedule for the year.

Crappie Fever, I am fighting the cheaper electronics thing too but I really don't need a 2K fishfinder to catch them. Riley and Carroll Creek have lots of submerged and visible timber, especially this time of the year. Crappie stay around those practically year around.
I tie jigs occasionally and have had luck them them and the Bobby Garlands as well but if you use minnows; it may give you a better edge. That's my opinion anyway. If you will vary your colors and depths, you can figure out what they want. Also, keep your bait above the thermocline. I second what rja4bama said; check out the club website and try to come to a meeting. You can pick up lots of things just by listening to us fisherman (liars) lol. Hope to see you soon.

I wish I could be of help on Normandy but that is my least favorite lake of the three that MTCC fishes......If I were going to Normandy, I would pull into Barton springs parking lot and make a big circle and go to Tims Ford....LOL......These guys that fish Normandy alot can give you some good pointers....

What Todd said about the timber will help you get started. I fished it for a long time before I figured anything out. DON"T use the spider rig around the timber unless you need practice retying.
-
You are right Tim. Spider rigging throug timber will try anybody patiences.

I tried my spider rig for 15 minutes at Carroll Creek and lost 10 rigs so don't go that route.
