merry christmas everyone. can anyone tell me if i hook the power cables for the fish finder to the power wires for the trolling motor will this cause any problems. im hooking up a new garmin 150 echo on the front of my boat and needing a power source. thanks in advance for any help.
Whenever I hook up any electronics I always go straight to the battery and put a fuse link in the wire right at the battery. Every time I have hooked my depth finder up to another circuit (especially trolling motor) I end up with interference when I run both of them at the same time.
In my opinion it us just best to run a dedicated wire.

best to run new power and ground wires straight to the cranking battery, don't use the TM battery as it will cause interference when the TM is in use. Try and keep the two sets of wire seperate as best you can, or cross them at 90* angles if you have to. If you can't run seperate wire, consider getting a small 12v batt (riding mower battery) and hooking the FF up to it if you have room in the front of the boat for the small batt.

I think it was bass pro or cabelas that had a deal you could hook to your cranking battery that would allow you to make multiple connections for things such as this so you didnt have several different connections hooked up at the wing nut.Quote:
