Pole advise
Folks, I got my Hitek pole holders and a Dul-L-Seat ready to go up front. I need some advise on what kind of poles to put up front for spider rigging. Been to Bass Pro; looked at B-N-M and others. I think I'd like a couple ten footers and a couple 12 or 14s. What do you folks suggest for length and brand?
Thanks,
TG

Mine are Wally Marshall from BPS, I think they are called Crappie Maxx Signature Series now. I have four 12' and four 10', the 12' are used in the front to help keep the line out of the tm when turning. Depending on the set up of your boat you may need 14' to keep the line out of the tm.

I won't use anything shorter than 12'. To me shorter rods don't get the bait far enough away from the boat. Both B n M & Southern Poles are good rods & they sponsor our get together every year. I fish the older BPS WM 12' rods. Haven't broke any yet. As they are retired I'll replace them with the B n M's. Again, IMO anything shorter than 12' is too short for what I do.

I like the Wally Marshals tightline specials aka. Crappie Maxx tightline specials from BPS florecant tips and there stiff enough you can pull cranks and long line with them, all round versitile pole. I got the 12 and 16 footers for spidder rigging.

I would get all the same lenght. This way when your scanning the tips your eyes never have to refocus. If you want 12ft you can get 4 silstar rods for 50.00. Ive used them a few years before i went to 14ft. Now I have BnM pro staff trollers. I now use the silstars for cranks. Check the pro classifieds The Crappie Hot Spot had them 20% off. Nice guy to deal with. Merry Christmas

BnM PST rods 12' in length. I tried the Silstars at first but much prefer the strength and tip action of the PST rod, now I have 8 Silstar/Pinnacles that stay at the house as backups and probably never will. 12' gives me plenty of spread but are still very managable.
