converting garmin mapsource map and waypoints to lowrance usr?
Maybe I'm making too much of this conversion business but is really confusing for a novice so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have a Stockton Lake map and waypoints on my Garmin and also on my lap top. I want to move the waypoints AND the mapsouce map (hopefully) to my Lowrance elite 5 dsi using a micro-USB card.
Looking on my computer I was expecting to find two files, the Mapquest lake map as a file and the waypoints as another but all I find is a map with .gdb tag which appears to contain the waypoints as well. It works fine on both my Garmin and the computer. I thought Garmin was in a GPX format? Anyway..
So for the questions:
Is there a program that will convert the waypoints in .gdb format to the Lowrance USR. Most conversion programs seem to list a .gpx but not .gdb.?
How will this work since the waypoints appear to reside within the Mapquest Stockton Lake file?
So will the map transfer as well and show up on my Lowrance or will I have to buy a "Lowrance supported map of Stockton" which will overlay the waypoints?
I assume I will have to hook up my Garmin to the computer, use a program to convert the waypoints and map (hopefully), and store the converted file on my computer until I can transfer it to the micro-usb for the Lowrance Elite 5 dsi?
Thanks in advance
