Yes Vinyl is good, but take a lot longer to cure and almost all the colors need a clear over coat to be shinny. It take at least a day and maybe 2 to cure all the way.

x2 with skip, had trouble with the heads having a drip form as you hang need to watch closely and wipe the ends...to much maint. for me...
you can always use fingernail polish.....
I tried the dipping the head in Vinyl, but like liftbite said it wants to drip so I use small brushes to paint it on. I do still use the Clear a lot because if I have to paint eyes on and the head is FL Yellow or Chart using Sally's Hard as Nails will change the color and I don't like that so I can put clear vinyl over these colors for my clear coat and Sally's on all other colors.
I buy a jig head paint at a local tackle store that works great. I heat the heads very lightly and paint them with a small brush, works fine for me and is durable
Two part epoxy paint - hard finish that won't react to plastic lures. Easy to spray, dries to touch in a couple of hours. Make sure to clean up your paint gun as it will dry hard and be extremely difficult to get out if you don't.

For me when I was using it viynl but the head aches I got from it just were'nt worth it. I still paint some with testors paint the epoxy over the top but most are powder painted just way easier.
I know what you mean. I used every kind of paint finish on my jig heads but find the quickest is the powder paint.
It was a hassle waiting for things to dry/cure with potential drips and drops.
I tried powder paint and there's no drip; no drops; no pain!. The only waiting periods are the 15 minutes to heat and the 15 minutes to cure. Then; they're ready to put some hair on. C2
I tried vinyl but hated it. Too long to get a finished produce and had to watch it over and over and over and over to prevent cone heads.
