Maxxum or Fortrex. Are the extra features on the Fortrex worth the extra money? Is the foot control on the Fortrex more responsive than the Maxxum or are they the same pedal? Thanks.

Go with the Fortrex. I had a Terrova which In my opinion was worth little more than an anchor. Luckily I was able to sell it. I have owned many trolling motors over the years and the FORTREX is the BEST ever. I say this even after being upset with Minnkota and the response to the problems I had with the Terrova. I gave them one last chance, and I am glad I did. Had a maxum years ago. It was fine but i like the Fortrex much better. Hope this helps.
Contact Fishawk. He bought one a while back, a Fortrex, and loves his. Tennessee forum. He did his homework first, probably answer some of your questions.
My old maxuum is gathering cobwebs in the shop. The fortrex, imo, is much smoother much quiter, and easier to deploy. I couldnt be any more happier with it. Its the cats meow
One advantage the fortrex gives you is the ease that it can be deployed and retracted. I find the pedal on the fortrex very "smooth" and does not require a lot of "force" to turn. I say this coming from a 12/24 evinrude (like turning a tank). Can't compare it to a Maxxum but when I was doing my research it was pretty much a no brainer to go with the Fortrex from what I read on various forums. Only downside I had was to convert my electric on the boat to a straight 24v system. My previous trolling motor was 12/24 and it wasn't set up to run a 24v system.
