How do I know what size hub to replace my current hub? I had a bearing buddy fall off on Black Friday and by the time I got to the ramp the bearings were gone and the hub too. I need to replace. Is there a place on the hub with a number? I looked online and there were all kinds of sizes on lugs, bearings and spindle? Any suggestions out there?

measure your spindle diameter where the bearings ride on it....some are the same size front and rear bearing.....some are larger on the rear bearing. I carry a spare with me at all times. You could just pull your other hub off and take it down to your local boat place and they can tell the size by looking at it. A complete hub assembly with pre-packed bearings races, and seals is around $35 to $40.
Just so you know, the failing bearings probably made the Bearing Buddy fall off, not the other way around. Any wobble in the bearing is likely to cause you to lose the BB.

If ya smoked her that bad you will need to check the spindle too. You might already have a spare loaded hub cause you could be in the market for a new axle. Been down that road myself, it's truly a dead end.
The spindle looks good. I thought about taking the other side hub off and take it in for measurements. The inner bearing is bigger than the outer bearing. Who do I take it to? Auto parts place, or a marine dealer?

Most Farm and Tractor stores carry various complete hubs in stock. Might give one of those a call if they are in your area. I would think that any place selling any kind of trailers would also have them or be able to get them.
Good post! The trailer stores will usually be the cheapest, if you don't find them at a farm store. They measure hubs by spindle and bolt pattern, so it's easiest to just take the old one with you. If you've got grease on your rim on the other one your seals are gone.Quote:
