We gave them a whirl again today. Beautiful day to be on the lake. Water about 64 degrees. We were doing the long lining technique again. We caught around 50 and kept 30 nice ones. Fish were between 3/4 - 1 1/2. Heavy clouds moved in and they got lockjaw. Some fish have moved up the creeks arms and are being caught 3/4 of the way back. They are not thick back there yet but some can be had there now. Beware longliners alot of leaves and pinestraw in the water. It played havoc on us numerous times. Had a friend from Atlanta named Mike fishing today and he caught some nice ones. He is beginning long lining like me, as a matter of fact he gave me the bug to tell you the truth. He is an excellent fisherman. Folks look out for this guy he can catch them. He caught the biggest stringers of crappie last year on two different occasions spider rigging in the spring I have ever seen come out of there. 30 fish with a 1lb 10 ounce average, now that's what I call a stringer for Oconee, also saw another person spider rigging today he had a few at a 1 1/2. Saw a guy at the ramp with some 2LBers huge huge crappie for fall crappie. Legit 2 lbers I put the trusty Rapala scale on them myself. He had 20 quality fish. Lake is still down. Again Long Shoals ramp is completely fine and has a ladder to climb up on the dock.
