Sharpie Crappie
With the beautiful frost and mild southerly breeze  Friday, me and one other boat had the lake to ourselves until the frost was long gone. I had a mixed bag of keeper Crappie and three bass. One of the crappie I had caught before, because I mark all the crappie with a black sharpie marker before I release them. It makes it so much easier when trying to identify the growth rate. All were released to fight another day!

Nice fish, but where did you mark him? Surely it's not that black stripe on his back from his nose to the fins? We catch lots of crappie that have a stripe there so where is your mark? Is it that tiny bit of red I see?

NP that is a variant in the crappie. They tell me it is a cross of natural type. White and a Black crappie. As Skip said very common down in this neck of the woods. Have marked a few that way my self.Lols

Is that your 1st black nose from the dead C. I've caught a few around here. Maybe EF, I can't remember.
That jig is fantastic looking. Great name too.

Sounds like a good day to me, nice fish. Your fish are well traveled, I get em here too.

Black Nose
Thanks for the compliments. YES, it was a joke and was intended to add a touch of humor, but I guess some areas remains DRY! It was my forth Black Nose. They're not very common around here and thought some would enjoy seeing one. The jig I used is laying on top of the heavy frost we got that morning. The water temperature was 52 and the air temp was 27.
The cost for telling a "Fish Tail"............
