Its getting cold but potomac crappies are heating up!!

Spent this past Thursday and yesterday fishing a little off shoot of the potomac by Reagan airport for slabs. They are bunchin up real nice and when you find them get ready for some fast, furious action. They are big and feisty right now. Kept 11 from the trip yesterday. Every fish we cleaned had a belly full of minnows. They are putting on the feed before winter. Pretty sure I found a couple nice winter holes as well. The weather is getting cool but the crappie fishing is definitely not.

Good job ya should be able to get all winter as long as the water dont get hard. Ive looked at some of them creeks along that part of the potomac on google earth maps and figured they would have some good crappie fishing.

Yea, I think I found a good winter hole in this particular area.A deep dropoff from the shore adjacent to a shallow flat. The shoreline gets water pushed into it during an incoming tide which pushes the baitfish towards it. It seems to be aperefect spot when the conditions are right. Caught some bass there as well. My buddy was catchin crappies on a 1/2 oz spinner for a bit until I started hookkn up every castwith a more crappie friendly bait.

WHOO I'm actually going there to go catfishing this friday, I didn't know there were crappie there too! Are they usually holding by the bridge?
