Sounds scary but Snopes has this to say:

I see it there. Dont see how its not true though. I can see how it would be very easy to pull off. OK nvm then.
To be honest I've never asked for extra cash so can't be positive but according to Snopes, you the customer, have to OK the extra cash on the keypad in front of you for the transaction to complete.
Next time I may ask for $10 extra in cash just to see how it works.

FYI...this "so called" scam at WalMarts doesn't just happen there, it happens at other stores too AND be aware the cashiers are being watched on camera all the time - the stores have caught cashiers doing wrongful things and have terminated them accordingly. Just don't be fooled into thinking this only happens at WalMart.

This comes around every so often. This is a hoax and does not happen. It seems to generate around this time every year. EB
What does happen is that a clerk may ring up an item twice. It has happened to me.
