Mattawomen Creek
I received an email from the Maryland Department of the Environment Wetlands and Waterways Program that the application for the CC connector thru the Mattawomen Swamp has been denied. Unless they add the several studies needed the application will be dead in 6 months. Must wait two years to re-apply. This is very good news..
It is the last chance on the Potomac to keep a pristine fishery and ecosystem alive.

So perhaps they should remove the other 7 bridges across Mattawoman?
Apparently the out of County residents didn't know any of the people that lost their lives on Billingsley Road, but do know what is best for others.
Nobody seems to complain about Charles County's Sewage Treatment Facility, which overflows a couple of times a year.
Sorry, touchy subjects.

ProGrizz I respect your statement but have to ask what the heck are you talking about?
Elaborate if you please.

The Charles County Connector is to be a re-alignment and improvement of Billingsley Road, which is the main cross county road south of Waldorf. I personally knew 2 people who lost their lives on the current twisting road from LaPlata to Bryans Road and another very close young man who is permanently disabled.
There are currently 7 bridges crossing the main stream of the Mattawoman, each allowing various amounts of road runoff.
The Sewage Treatment Plant DOES overflow into the main stem when we have the heaviest of rains.
The County did not manage it's growth properly, granted. But now the citizens that have moved into the area are penalized by the County's previous wrong ways. And now the State is not allowing the County to bring it's infrastructure up to a standard that closer deals with the current population.
I am trying not to go into a tirade, so I will stop.
I have lived in Chuck County for over 43 years and have driven these roads before, during and after the housing boom.
I have also fished the tidal Potomac and tribs for the entire 43 years for crappie, pickerel & bass and must say that the some fish populations have grown with the development while others have all but disappeared.
It's a shame but it's done. As far as the MDE, only one word describes their agenda, "Politics".

Very concise and well written. I have to wonder if it where built would DC bound trucks now be dumped on RT210 North?
As it is RT210 kills almost daily. The extra traffic might not help.
RT228 was supposed to releave the traffic correct?
Honestly thanks for input..

I reckon so, but I would suppose the trucks may not be dumped as much as they would try to bypass the Megatropolis aka; 'Waldo'.
It's a shame that the forethought wasn't given early on. Funny though, that the local developers cashed in during the hayday and the Johnny come laters were just starting to be charged for major improvements when the whole thing tanked.
I suppose it is, what it is.
