It depends on the eyes; stick-on's you'll really need a good sealant. I haven't found or know of a glue for the stick-on's. About the best way is to paint them on, unless you have recessed eye sockets or a flat surface. And they all need a sealant for preservation. Sally Hard as nails is good for most, except powder paint green flavors, then I use Seal-Coat, 2-3X. The liquid paints are far better for eyes. If ya find a better way to skin this cat, post it for us all. For just a single color you can use sharpies, even on powder, just put them on before you cure in the oven.
Crappiefarmer Glad to see you back been a long time. I like to paint mine on and then cover with a coat of clear lacquer. Skip has a formula the requires MEK and clear lacquer mixed 50/50. Dries fast and does a good job. I do like to use Sally Hanson's Hard as Nails on top of that for added protection. I put on the Sally Hanson's right after I get done with the tying. That seals every thing down tight.

These will be stick ons. So You guys are saying the sealant will help hold the eyes on? Do you dip the jigs in it or brush it on? CF
I know a lot of the fellows use super glue to attach them and then paint ( really clear seal them ) over them with a brush. I have some but still like my hand painted eyes.

I use the made glue just for a drop on the chenille where it's finished, but use Sally Henson's for a clear coat over eyes except for FL Yellow and FL Chart which Sally's will change the color and for that I use Clear Vinyl.
I paint my eyes and uses a cheap set of drill bits that have a flat end. Use one about half the size of the first color to put on the black pupil. I use Acrylic outdoor paint from walmart. Maybe if I used Testers I wouldn't need a clear coat, but have not tried that yet, but have wanted to for probably 3 years. Just have not.
Ugh, missed the part about stick on eyes. Your gonna need something like epoxy that will coat over the entire thing. I wouldn't do that unless I bought jig heads with eye sockets and I don't.

If you are Powder Painting .... before you make the final bake stick the eyes on and then bake.
To really do it up right after baking is to use epoxy glue and coat the entire head.

Are you sure the stick on eyes will take the heat of the oven at 400 degrees? That is what temp I use for most colors.Quote:

I do it all the time (not at a full 400 degrees but from what I have seen should be OK) .. no harmful effect to the eyes ... They do work better on "Flat" surfaces .... Smaller eyes work on Round Heads ... "To really do it up right after baking is to use epoxy glue and coat the entire head."
