OK, why did I need to purchase the 124-69-Lowrance Network Starter Kit when I bought this antenna? I was able to connect it to my NEMA on back of the HDS-8 using the cable and "T" that came with the antenna. When I was shopping for the antenna, everything said I needed to buy the Starter kit too.
I have been looking at one and thought the same thing?
I'm just curious how you have the LGC-4000 connected. Can you post a picture ?

I feel gypped. Mine didn't have the 2000 power connector and fuse. Had to order it.

The installation intructions for the antenna did not have any wiring "How To's" with it. It did come with a fairly long wire and a "T" that had 2 male and one female connections. I simply connected the pigtail coming off the antenna to the T, and used the longer cable coming off the T directly into the back of the NEMA inlet on the HDS-8. I am only assuming this is how to connect. I did not see any "Power" wiring going to the antenna, simply the pigtail. I did not even have to open the Starter Kit.
I did pull up my networking on the menu and the NEMA 2000 light was on. I do not have anything else connected to the HDS-8 other than the LSS-1 and the LGC 4000. Does the starter kit require connections to power, thus giving power to the LGC 4000? Would help a little IF the intructions that came with the antenna were a little more in detail. They basically only show how to mount the thing which amouts to one big DUH.
You put power on the NMEA2000 cable pair in the power data wire? If so, that might work. I powered mine mid network near the console as was recommended by Lowrance because of the size/length of my network.
You can go to the network menu tab and look at your devices list. Lcg4000 will show up there if it is working.
I am not an expert by no means.
You can download a nmea 2000 install manual from Lowrance download page if the download page is working. I have problems downloading from their site.
You're speaking of the line that powers the HDS-8 correct? I couldn't tell you to be sure. I do know I've got one line that is not connected to anything. It is part of the power/date connection and has an orng,blue,grn,yel,grnd on it. I reckon I need to open the Manual that came with the HDS-8.Quote:

As for whether the LGC 4k is working or not, I don't know. I had the boat out yesterday on new waters and I didn't notice any difference on the refresh rate of the GPS Arrow.

While looking at Network devices, the NEMA 2000 is lit. I have things set to Auto. Just now, in my garage with the door closed, I turned the GPS on, it's showing my location as correct. I enabled WAAS and it's still showing the proper location. I then took a large aluminum cookie sheet, 20" x 40" and held it over the head unit trying to see if I could block the siganls. No loss of signal was shown. I then laid it over the LGC 4000 and still no loss of signal was shown. Shoot, maybe the way I have it connected, both the internal antenna AND the external LGC are BOTH working in tandem. I wonder if this is even possible????
If you loose signal from one, I believe it will automatically switch to the other. Read that somewhere.Quote:
