Lowrance downscan

I am getting close to making a new FF purchase and right now I am leaning toward the Elite 5 DSI with chartplotter.
I have been searching and reading all I can find but I still have found nothing telling me what the angle or width of the sonar beam is on the downscan. One time I thought I had read that is is wider than the conventional cone beam. Is there a formula that gives the beam width at XXX depth? The transducer is 455/800. The 455 is for a broader scan correct?
Also am i correct in thinking that the Elite 5 DSI can only read in downscan and not in 2D. Could it be networked with my x135. I am planning on leaving the x135 hooked up.

The 455hz is for deeper water, yes the Elite 5 DSI has no 2d sonar and no you can't network it. I had one and sold it, I'd save my pennies and get a HDS unit. That's what I did.

from my readings, the DS beam is more like a thin slice (like a piece of paper maybe or maybe slicing an onion) vs a cone shaped beam, and extends out beyond the width of your boat, now how wide of beam (from left to right) I think it depends on the depth of the water more than anything else.

With the beam repeating itself the sharper image is produced by the numerous thin slices of data that is received back and processed (putting the onion slices back to its original shape). I think. LOL

Yep I understand the thin slice. I was just wondering how broad that onion is.
