Jig Storage

I've been working out of town for a while and tying most of my jigs in the hotel. I don't have access to any kind of permanent storage and every jig I tie ends up in small component sort of plastic box. When I take them back home and from hotel to work to lake they slide around and sometimes my hackle tail jigs end up with bent tails. It's probably not a big deal but if I'm trying to decide what jig to use I'll pick up the non-bent ones and the bent tail jigs end up not being used and slide around and get bent worse. Or if I tried to sell them I wouldn't feel right selling a jig with a bent up tail. Thought about trying a fly wallet? At least to take a few to the lake. But then don't know how I could take them all home?

Also planning to pick up a worm binder to keep my materials organized. I'm outgrowing my shoe box.

For selling I would sell any that had been in a box that looked different than from when I tided them, but as far as you fishing with them, next time out put one in the water and you will see they get as skinny as a twig and will straighten out for you unless the stem for some reason is broken. You could buy a Fly Box, but they don't sell good big ones cheap.

You could possible glue some strips of closed cell foam into a large box (no dividers) and hang your jigs onto the foam. That way you can control the spacing so you have no kinked tails.

A lot of guys cut swim noodles and glue them in boxes of diff sizes.

Small bags in a multi compartment works well too. You can fit a ton of jigs if you stand them up and it protects them pretty well!

Thanks. I should have try a little harder with a search. I will definitely be looking into the swim noodle box. Someone said Big Lots still has them in stock and I'm sure I'll be able to find a pencil box.

This works awesome! I read it on here last year and now have 4 walmart plastice storage boxes with cut up noodles glued in.

I couldn't find any swim noodles at big lots but they did have a foam sword that I butterflied and stuck in a 50 cent pencil box. Enough foam for about 3 boxes. Bought some cheap glue that didn't work and ended up with doubled gorilla tape that I already had. The box has squares on the top and bottom that line up so they stack really well. I could put the jigs a little closer together and maybe put foam in the lid too and be able to store about 75 jigs per each ~$1.50 box.

There is a nightprowler jig in the bottom left next to a couple pbugs but the rest I tied. This is my entire stock right now as last week I had someone buy most of what I had and I'm waiting on some jig heads to get here.

Thanks for the advice on this, saved a ton of money vs buying fly boxes.
