597 ci Hd DI help

I've had my 597 since April and while I love it when it works right, it doesn't work right very often. I have read most of the threads on here about it, but none of the settings/adjustments I've seen seem to help. Some days if works fine in shallow water, but most of the time in water less than 15ft or going across a sharp depth changes it goes bonkers. I don't believe it is electrical interference as it will behave erratically without anything else on the boat running including big motor. Any other settings to try besides saltwater deep and adjusting surface clutter?

Sorry to here that your having problems with your unit. Im not having problems such as you describe.i can't think what might be wrong.maybe transducer? what software version are you using ? sounds like it could be some kind of intereference though .try your noise settings

Read on here somewhere that low voltage may cause that to happen.

How would it be interference with nothing else on the boat turned on?

what software version are you using? im asking because that surface clutter thang that your doing did help in a early software version,but the newest version has had that fixed. if you have the newest version then theres another problem.

Thanks Kosmo, I'll send a pm with my e-mail address. I registered my unit and downloaded Hummingbird PC, but haven't had any luck getting new software version to SD card. The unit worked pretty well today set to saltwater shallow and with surface clutter turned up a little, but every day seems to be a little different with it.
