Which is best for cranking battery that will power my electronics?
The Blue tops have larger capacity for running things, but I'm not a fan of Optimas for much of anything but offroad vehicles.
Cabela's AGM on sale for $189.99 right now is a far better battery than any Optima. Cabela's Advanced Angler AGM Batteries, Marine Deep Cycle Batteries, Auto/Boat Batteries & Chargers, Boating : Cabela's
The biggest Optima is 900CCA 155RC 59.8LBS for about $275 compared to a Cabela's Series 30 AGM at 1205CCA 205RC 62.8LBS for $190. No comparison.
They have a $5 shipping offer right now too, but I don't know the details.
The only downside is they don't have standard marine terminals and you'll need a set of adapters or you'll need to rig something yourself.
Don I tried the yellow tops, 3 times with no luck,,, finally went back to the ole standard Sears Die Hards, so far so good, will pull cranks at 4mph if i need to and all day long with the terrova.... good luck on your search
One color is automotive the other is Marine. But I dont remember which is which.
cat fan is in the know he is a elec. eng. or sume thing like that
Delco voyager 31dc is the only way to go,i guide hard and got 6 years out of my last 2 on trolling motor
The best battery's would be the sears group 31s,deka, or cabelas(made by deka) You want the highest RC that you can find.
Delco group 29 for the troller to save a few bucks. Charged properly you will get 6 years out of them
The blue top is the marine line but don't waste your money, they are not worth the extra cash. I would go with a good lead acid battery before I spent my money on an Optima again. I tried one and it lasted on year. I could have bought two good lead acid batteries for the price of the one Optima and got at least two years out of each. I've heard good things about the Cabela's AGM batteries. They are supposedly made by Deka but I can't confirm that. I have had pretty good luck with AC Delco Voyager.
