Do you think crappie will like this?
It is 10 feet tall 4 inch pipe. The cross pieces "limbs" are 1/2 inch pvc.
a 2 liter drink bottle fits snugly on the 1/2 inch pipe.
I sunk it in 16-17 feet of water.Attachment 69182

Looks like it will to me! I did one similar, about 5" tall. Did not do the coke bottles though. I like that idea. Are the "limbs" secured ? Do they fit snug enough not to come out?
It should hold fish but most people will tell you it is best to rough up slick surfaces like is found on PVC and on soft drink bottles. Never seen one like this but in the right spot, it should produce. Let us know how it does for you.
Agreed. Sanding it will make it 2- 3X more effective. And there`s only 1 way to find out if the fish LIKE it...remember the fish are always right !
My son and I just made ten of the vertical trees out of 2" pvc and 1/2" and 3/4" pvc scrap pipe. They range in heighth from 4' to 10'. I drilled a hole thru the vertical tree and the horizantal limbs and secured them with a piece of old copper wire. We sanded them real good using 50 grit sandpaper. They are water ready, just havent had time to get them to the lake. I liked the idea of vertical trees because it gives them the freedom to move up or down them depending on weather and their mood. I plan on sinking to groups of 5 trees, one set in about 10' to 12' feet of water and the other set in 18' to 20'.
Looks like it will work I just never thought of using 2 liter bottles.
Build it and they will come.... End of story.
I did not secure the limbs. They fit snug enough that I did not think that was necessary.
I did sand the pvc, but not the bottles.
If you use the bottles. be sure and put two or three big holes in the bottle or the whole thing will float. I miised putting holes in three bottles and it would not sink.
