Don't know what to think about this one. Plead guilty and get out. Continue to plead innocent and stay in prison. What would y'all do? Did they really do it? No one will ever find out if they plead guilty and get freed. Case Over!

I just cant seem to wrap my simple minded brain around this one ? Now how much will the government pay them ?? Hey why dont they offer Charles Manson this deal ????? Poor ole Jeffery Dahmer, jail justice was served to him and he didnt get this deal. Man what is the world coming to !!!!!
I think if the Science said they did not do it then....... The new DNA evidence i suppose to set them free.
I dont have a problem with the fact that the DNA doesnt match, I just dont understand why the "pleading guilty" sets them free, why not just exonerate them or whatever that big word they use. If the proof is not there that they did it even after all these years, why have them plead as they did it ? Unless if they were deem not guilty Im sure the guvment would have to pay out big time but again I dont understand all the legal wranglings goin on in front of or behind the scenes
There was no evidence that they didn't do it. The DNA that the investigators collected just wasn't a match to the 3 that were convicted. Nothing has been proved either way as to their guilt or innocence. They were convicted on circumstantial evidence, but I go with the where there is smoke, there must be a fire theory. Them admitting guilt and then being freed with time served is a legal ploy to prevent a wrongful prosecution lawsuit against the powers that be.
Just went out and read the wikipedia deal on this. Have heard of the West Memphis 3 but never knew what the deal was. Now I wish I hadn't. Sad all the way around. And if ya'll ever hear of me planning a trip to West Memphis, stop me.

It always looked like a some poor, unlikeable kids were fingered for the killings for lack of a better suspect.
They used an Alford plea, which allowed them to plead guilty to a lesser offense, first-degree murder, while still claiming innocence.
