I'll take a "tough" day like that any time!
Where did you catch them at??
That's some good fish. I wouldn't mind having a tough day like that either.
Like David said, "we didn't kill'em", meaning it wasn't our best day on Ferguson but sure wasn't the worst either. Anyway, I think the final keeper talley was 18 Crappie, 2 Catfish and 2 largemouth bass. We also caught a couple of really nice white bass that we threw back, plus one gar and 7-8 smaller crappie. We wound up letting 7-8 crappie get off due to the short bite. We tried spider rigging with jigs but for some reason they just wouldn't bite the jigs today. Spider rigging with jigs and/or roadrunners is always our favorite technique and we have a tendency to leave the crankbait rods at home more often than not. Maybe the faster speed of the cranks was triggering a "reflex bite" whereas the slower jigs weren't stimulating their attention enough to initiate a bite? At any rate we needed to get back into practice with the crankbaits anyway.....it's been a few months since we used them and they definitely have their place at times. BTW, These fish were in deep water out from the edge of the channel. They were suspended 12-14 ft deep.
Nice fish. I'll be glad to go with you on your next tough day. ;-)
