daredevle spoons for panfish

Yesterday I bought a daredevle skeeters in 2/32 oz. I want to know got this spoon, if tipped with a Berkeley gulp minnow head or minnow, could catch panfish. It's about an inch long, with #14 size double hook.

I used them a life time ago in South Dakota to catch crappie. I was bank fishing on Angostura (sp?) reservoir south of Rapid City.

I used them back in the late 50's at the pond on our dairy farm in New Jersey, hadn't thought about them in years. Caught a lot of fish on them!

Years ago I caught alot of crappie,gills sunfish, bass, and trout on a red&white striped with red and black feathers.

Haven't been able to find them with those feathers in a long time.

I had a big Daredevil, weedless, red & white, with a big red feather out the back. I was about 10 years old and caught Pike like crazy. The 2 best lures then were the Daredevil & Johnson's Silver Minnow/a Uncle Josh Pork Rind.

wonder why folks dont use those lures anymore............seems to me they would be the next "hot bait"................especially if they caught fish in the past.....

There is a fine article in the May, 2011 edition of In'Fisherman magazine on "Spooning Bluegills". Sounds like something I'll be trying shortly. :)

I learned from a guy on Lake Geneva a few years ago to use Blue Fox Rattlin Flash Spoons. They work well. I use primarily the 1/16th ounce size, but BF stopped making them a couple years ago. I believe their smallest size is 1/8th. The guy that taught me tops them with waxies, but I like to use butterworms. they are more expensive, but last much longer in the gridge and you can catch more fish with each one. I have caught both crappies and bluegills with them.

Lots of info on spoon fishing for gills on ****************. Lots of guys on there talk about fishing with spoons all the time. i am going to give it a try.
