We were fishing downstream and when we were headed back to Bucksaw and there was a water patrol boat, park ranger boat, law enforcement, ambulance and a wrecker at the ramp there. I believe it was Friday around noon if I remember right. Hope nothing too serious happened! Asked Richard at the Marina and they hadn't heard anything.

Heard this morning on KDKD that it was a murder. A guy killed a man that he accused of messing around with his wife when he was out of the country in the military. They were camping there for several days. The wife was found dead in Kansas City at a hotel last week. Pretty bad deal for sure. I don't think you are suppose to camp in that area and they may have been hiding out after she was found dead.

Justin S. Cannon, a soldier in the U.S. Army, mourned at his wife’s funeral Monday morning in Belton.
At the same time, a hundred or so miles to the southeast, investigators were searching Truman Lake for Michael Griggs, who had been missing for more than a day. Retrieved mid-afternoon, Griggs’ body had heavy damage to the back of the head.
By that evening, Cannon sat in the St. Clair County Jail in Osceola, Mo. The 21-year-old Peculiar man faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
According to court documents, Cannon told a detective that he was mad at Griggs, 24, for having sex with his wife while Cannon was away with the Army.
Cannon’s military status was not available. His Facebook page makes reference to having served in Afghanistan. Reports say he left a base in Georgia to attend the funeral of Amber Cannon, his 16-year-old wife.
She had been found dead July 27 inside the Rodeway Inn on U.S. 71 in Grandview. Her mother said she had gone to the motel with friends so they could use the swimming pool. The family feared drugs may have played a part in her death. Police have not said how she died.
She attended Belton High School and would have been a junior this fall.
Court documents say the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office received a missing person report on Griggs about 11 a.m. Sunday. He had gone to Truman Lake with six friends.
It is unclear whether Justin Cannon had also gone with the group or showed up later Saturday night. Other campers said that Griggs and Cannon had a verbal altercation during the night about Griggs’ relations with Amber Cannon.
During questioning about the missing man, Cannon told investigators that he saw Griggs headed to the restroom about 5:30 a.m. Sunday, but did not see him return.
After Griggs’ body was found, detectives summoned Cannon back down to St. Clair County for more questioning. Court documents say he then admitted to sneaking up on Griggs and throwing a rock, which hit Griggs in the back of the head.
Cannon then carried the body into the lake to hide it, the documents say. About an hour and a half later, he awoke the others and told them Griggs was missing.
Lori Quick, Griggs’ mother, told The Star on Tuesday that Amber had been to her house several times to visit her son.
“I assume the guy was jealous,” Quick said of Cannon.

Wow. I was hoping it wasn't serious. Just thought that maybe someone's parking brake had failed and their truck got away from them.

Jealousy wasn't the word I would have come up with. INSANITY!!!!! But,,,,,,,,the way kids are brought up nowadays it doesn't surprise me. The girl probably didn't see anything wrong with it at all. And the soldier, at 21, wasn't equipped to deal with it. If he is a combat vet, his way of dealing with it was, eliminate it. What is this world coming to?
