Rhodhiss 7-30-2011 Three species one niight
My buddy Cdunst and I met up at 3:30 a.m. Sat morning. We sleepily headed down lake to place our
custom jugs out with glow lights that cdunst had crafted with pvc and foam floats. We set out 8 total
with cut bait by 4:00 a.m. in a large cove and decided to bass fish.
We tried a rocky point with no success and I slowly drove the boat back to Castle Bridge to try and fish
there since there was some light to see by. I am paranoid about hitting something in the dark so I take
my sweet time driving a boat when you can't see what's in the water. Notice I said that there was some
light from the parking lot of the launch and plenty enough to see what and where you are going in that
area. As we were taking our time fishing a main channel point our same old and so friendly "not" aliens that
have no respect for fishing limits decided to rip by us creating a huge wake in a no wake zone just yelling at
each other in some unintelligible language (twan chang chung ) is all I could hear. Having no manners nor
care about other boaters and fisherman in their path they kept on speeding through the no wake zone. Cdunst
and I are watching making comments and all of a sudden BAM BAM the morons were too foolish to pay
attention to what they were doing and how fast they were moving and ran head on into the docks. I am sorry
to say that my buddy Cdunst and I could not stop laughing!!!! It was the most comical thing I have seen
on the water ever. Lanterns flying everywhere screaming aliens cussing each other ching chong be dong etc.
Fate just sometimes works and has a way of biting you on the -ss.
So Eventually I caught two nice bass after we finished watching and laughing while they loaded their boat
and we decided to head back and check the jugs, nothing on all eight. We leave them to soak some more
after inspecting all the bait and decided to give the crappie a try.
We fished for crappie until about 9:30 catching several small ones on bright colors in 14-22 fow most were
hitting 6-8 feet from the bottom. We had 5 solid keepers and gave them to a fisherman we knew and headed
back to check our jugs. Again no catfish, it seems that the cats didn't wanna eat or we didn't have the right
bait or cove etc.
All in all it was a beautiful morning and peaceful for the most part. Looking forward to doing it again soon and
best wishes and tight lines for you all !!!
