I just started pouring and powdercoating. I had a tuff time cleaning out the jig eyes. So I started playing around and found out that using a pinch of playdo or clay and putting it over the eye works great. It withstands the heat ok. After you dip it in the powder and flow it out just let the powder set and then pull the playdo off. Works great for me.

Interesting! There are some other ways of doing it. Try the search engine and you should come up with some more ideas that might be a little quicker, especially if your going to be powder coating large amounts at a time. Even if you find something different, you need to stay with what you like and what works well for you. Looks like you're going to be an asset to this forum. Welcome!
nylon (heat resistant) pins work for me.
You can also grind the tip off of a pair of needle nose pliers until you reach a width just above your hook eye then relieve one side to help cup the eye. Makes it real easy to go from the fluid bed, heat gun and then hang on the rack.
Bronson, I think you and I do it about the same, control your heat. Then you return it back to the flame to harden the paint, sets it right up for the cure, and hardly any hook eyes will close. It's something you'll learn with practice.Quote:
