Okatibbee old days

The Navy sent me here in 1968, my last tour of duty, retired in 71 and stayed. That was the year before they started to fill the lake so I saw it dry. I forget the year but a friend got in a helo and took pixs when it was pulled way down and they planted duck grass one year, I forget what year so I have pixs of it with water just in the creek from Collinsville point north so I do know a little about the lake. Anyway back in those days for me there was only 1 fish in the water, bass. A couple of pixs from back then. The first is 30 bass, 100 lbs that 3 of us pig and jiged on 1 Jan., can't remember what year.

This is another big mess from the next winter with a 27 lb flathead I caught on a jig & pig.

Nice pics, good looking Bird in the background, mabe around 78', glad you wised up and quit chasing those yucky carp and moved to the top.

Cool pics Steve.....most all of the geezers have a proud fishing history behind them that the whippersnappers have not made yet.

Times have changed, now we use an ironing board instead of the driveway.
