Our State must be BROKE!
Sent in the new boat application and returned to me.. Now they want an original invoice, title and a reciept from the county tax accessor that the sales tax has been paid.
1) No Money changed hands this boat is sponsored
2) All accesories were bought on the internet and I have never ever paid sales tax on onternet purchases.
Basically all boats purchased after April 1 2011 will have to show proof of sales tax paid on everything from trailer to motor to electronics.
JACKASSES!

That sucks Torch!!! We have to register and pay sales tax on boats, motors and trailers but not the accessories.

I've sent mine in 3 times. Still rockin the IL registration#s. Was told if bought from an individual, no taxes, but they couldn't get past the bill of sale being on a marina receipt even though it started"representing the owner", and the title was in the owners name, and I made the check to the owner! This time I submitted my own bill of sale. Hope I dont get locked up

If I were buying a new boat, I'd just buy a plain boat, motor and trailer. That's all they need to know. Add trolling motor and accessories later!!!
-
I wouldn't sweat it. It should stand up in court that you sent it in three times but the system tries to make it so darn complicated.... Its nearly impossible...
See this is why I just like holding on to my old boat....!

I am thinking about having a witness and do the bill of sale route.
-
I will get a crack head up town and have him sell the boat to me for a 1.00 and I will mail the tax commission a check for .07 and be done with it.
-
Spending $1,000,000 to collect $1,000. Gotta do somphthin to justify their existence.

Are you sending this to MSWFP or the state tax commission?
